Icheon World Ceramic Center - 23 Jun 05
The drive to Icheon was hot and slow. The world ceramic center was a grouping of small ceramic shops. Cyndi asked a store owner where we could see the ceramics made and she took us and some other folks (who had an interpreter) to see where they made the pottery. We found out pottery with no cracking is worth about 10 times the amount of pottery with cracking. The store owner served us some Vitamin C Drinks -- trying to sell us pottery from $30-2500.We then went to the Gwangju Joseon Royal Kiln Musem that was closed. We walked around the sculpture park since we were there and suggest against going out of your way to see it. Cyndi's Toya man imitation has her thumb up which is wrong. We were a week late for the World Ceramic Biennale 2005 -- day late, dollar short; not really new…The lake, Idong Resevoir, was on the drive home; note the recliners on the porch, we didn't see the boat to get to the houses, looks like a long swim holding the Doritos out of the water. We stopped at the rest area and got Cyndi some walnut cakes; she liked 'em.
