Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon - 17 Jul 05
I took the subway station from Songtan to Suwon for W1100 ($1.10). I walked about ¾ mile to the fortress where I walked around the outer wall and through a couple streets in the middle. I spent about 4.5 hours walking around continuously. Each building along the fortress is different, but they all start to look the same after a while. The bell ringing is funny to watch in the video, the camera didn’t capture how loud and low pitch of sound the bell emitted – you could hear it all around the fortress. The buildings were interesting, I liked the question mark. I ate lunch at a place with a pig on it; I forgot to take a picture. I had spicy unsalted bacon I grilled at my table with all the traditional Korean fixin’s. They must bring out 2 servings of raw meat because the waiter put one on the grill, then left; I was hungry so I cooked up everything on the plate and got charged double; total was W10,000 ($10). The food was very good. I walked around Suwon a little bit where they had a batting cage above a parking lot and construction worker following OSHA standards (or not).
